Morrocco: Travel retreat in the Sahara

Day 1
Montreal / Ouarzazate
Departure from the Trudeau Airport, Dorval to Casablanca. (flight approximately 7 hours); followed by a domestic flight to Ouarzazate. (flight approximately 1 hour)
Day 2
Arrival at Ouarzazate. Transfer by minibus to the town of Zagora. This journey is about 3 ½ hours and will take us through the Atlas mountains. We will stop for lunch in an ancient Kasbah in the Draa River Valley. Ritual of tea and dinner with the family of Muhammed, our local guide. Bed at a hotel in Zagora.
Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel. From here we will go to our desert departure point by 4X4. We will stop to sample Moroccan culture while on the road. We will join our camel caravan for the start of the Meharee. Our first hike of this trek will last between 1 to 2 hours. We will then set up our camp for our first night in the desert.
Day 4
After breakfast, we will strike the camp, and head off into the desert with our guides and camels. We will stop for lunch and then have a siesta in the shade of the Tamarisk groves. We will then continue with the trek but stop before sunset to set up our camp. Dinner by lamp and candlelight, followed by dancing to the traditional music of Moroccan percussion instruments.
Day 5 - Same as the day 4
Day 6 - Same as the day 4
Day 7 - Same as the day 4
Day 8 - Rest day amongst the sand dunes.
Day 9 - Same route as the day 4 - last night in the desert
Day 10 - Early in the morning, we leave the desert by way of the village of Foum Zguid. Lunch on the road. Return to Ouarzazate. Dinner and bed at the hotel.
Day 11 - Breakfast at the hotel. Experience a Hammam (Middle Eastern spa). Then one of two options: a 4X4 excursion to the Dadès Gorges or a day relaxing in Ouarzazate. Dinner and bed at the hotel.
Day 12 - Return flight to Montreal.
